Scuttle Firefox 3 Extension

I have updated the Scuttle Firefox Extension to work with FF 3.0.1. I also changed the version of the extension to 0.4.1 to differentiate this update.

I have a personal copy of Scuttle on my web server and use the Scuttle Firefox add-on. Unfortunately, the author hasn’t made any effort to update the add-on to work with FF3. So I’ve changed the code to allow it to work correctly. I hope others find this useful.
Thanks for doing this. This was the one big problem holding me back on Firefox 3.

Hey Eddy,
Since this update is simply for the Scuttle FF Extension, I didn’t know if the author of the Scuttle web app wanted me sending this to him. Also, it looks like the app is void of any development activity.
I also went to Mozilla.org and tried to contact the original author of the Scuttle Extension, but never got anywhere. So I fixed it myself and didn’t want any other Scuttle users to suffer.
I do hope this helps those who actively use this extension.

how can i find list of scuttle sites?
Many people I know have their own installation of Scuttle (which I’d recommend if you have a host or your own web server.) However, if that is not possible, then I’d probably recommend going with http://delicious.com/ since it is still active. The scuttle.org site has been down for quite some time and if I had the funds (and authority) I’d bring it back. The difference between delicious and scuttle is that scuttle is open source. There are other flavors of social bookmarking, but I’ve enjoyed using scuttle.

thanks for keeping this addon updated. It makes it so much easier to store bookmarks when visiting websites. I personally use scuttle on a public site. I closed user registration though because of the amount of spam and possible vulnerabilities in the script since it hasn’t been updated in a while.

Cool, seems to work appart from the fact that I am hosting my semantic scuttle on https and eventhough I put https in the preferences it tries to post to http.
